Levitt AMP Berea Music Series

The Berea Arts Council, along with partners Ali Blair, Berea College Entrepreneurship for the Public Good (EPG) program and City of Berea Tourism, are thrilled to win a Levitt AMP Grant Award of $25K in matching funds to present a free 10 concert series at “Old Town” Artisan Village Cabin Green, bringing social and economic benefits to Berea. The Levitt AMP Berea Music Series is supported in part by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private foundation that empowers towns and cities across America to transform underused public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. In 2017, more than 450 free Levitt concerts will take place in 22 towns and cities, all featuring a rich array of music genres and high caliber talent. Learn more at levitt.org.

This is a true community effort and support: from the initial idea of various partners, public voting, the outpouring of commitment from many local individuals and organizations, to the ongoing opportunities for participation during the concert series. The music line up will include a mixture of national, regional and local talent, as required by the Levitt Foundation, which must approve the artist line-up based on the criteria to create a welcoming, family friendly, open, accessible concert series that includes award-winning artists and rich spectrum of music genres: R&B, country, rock, Latin, jazz, children’s, World, and beyond.

There was a lot of competition around the country including much larger cities! We are especially proud that our small town had such community support as proposals were selected based on public voting! Dozens of local individuals, small businesses and not for profits have pledged cash and in-kind contributions to meet the grant match requirements. The City of Berea and Tourism will contribute with in-kind site support and advertising. See more details of the approved budget –Levitt AMP Berea Budget.pdf
