"Beyond the Box"

The Berea Arts Council presents an exhibit titled “Beyond the Box” featuring artists from the region, including Madison, Fayette, Rockcastle, Jackson and Taylor counties.

Inspired by the groundbreaking international project, Women Beyond Borders, artists were given the same sized box and asked to created a work of art inspired by the idea of moving beyond the box. Objects created for the exhibit range from intimate to large scale and include a variety of media.

The exhibit runs from May 30 through July 5. There will be a reception on Friday, June 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Gallery hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday. The gallery is closed on Wednesdays.

“Beyond the Box” is sponsored by Nancy and Doug Hindman and Dr. Bill and Biji Baker. The Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet, provides operational support funding for the Berea Arts Council with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Berea Arts Council is located at 116 N Main Street in Berea. For more information call 859-985-9317 or visit www.bereaartscouncil.org.
